WWE Wrestlemania 23 - Detroit, Michigan, 01 April 2007
Great road trip, experience and event. Some advice/notes:
[*]if you eat at Pepper's Bar and Grill, and you're in a rush, don't eat there!
[*]when you take a shuttle over for a event to cross the border, don't let one of you go for a washroom break. Sean went while the bus was waiting, and suddenly we started going towards the border. I had no money, no WM23 ticket, and no cellphone. So I sat and prayed to God that he would come through sooner or later. When I got to customs, the officer asked, "so what are you doing here?", I said "I'm going to Wrestlemania". He replied, "may I see your ticket to the event?". I said, "Well, you see, officer, I kind of don't have it with me". Not good :)
[*]don't eat a Coney Island Hot Dog when you have a long road trip back home. Also, check the washroom of where you're eating to make sure the necessary supplies exist :)
[*]Stay on the side of where the event is taking place. Alot of people from Canada went to the event, and stayed in Windsor, like us. This had to be, undoubtedly, the absolute worst logistics disaster I've ever seen by border patrol, tunnel / shuttle bus companies.
[*]I have never, and I mean never, seen two (2) Tim Hortons locations a mere city block from one another. This was on Goyeau, if I recall, close to our (interesting) hotel. The only explanation we could drum up was that this was some sort of Canadian 8 mile area, i.e. got regular to really rough in a block.
