I think it&#8217;s a great idea to document the history of geospatial and open source, and I echo <a title=\"Dave's comments\" href=\"http:\/\/lists.osgeo.org\/pipermail\/discuss\/2008-August\/004137.html\">Dave&#8217;s comments<\/a> on how Wikipedia would be an ideal home for documentation and maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the best way to go about this would be for the various projects on Wikipedia (<a title=\"MapServer\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/MapServer\">MapServer<\/a>, <a title=\"GDAL\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/GDAL\">GDAL<\/a>, <a title=\"GeoTools\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/GeoTools\">GeoTools<\/a>, <a title=\"GRASS\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/GRASS_GIS\">GRASS<\/a>, etc.) to document their respective histories, and allow the main Wikipedia <a title=\"OSGeo\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Osgeo\">OSGeo<\/a> page to link to them accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>Thoughts?  Are there better alternatives than Wikipedia?
